Yar's Revenge is quite the reboot. It's a refreshed take on the characters and settings of the original Yars' Revenge, a somewhat abstract Atari 2600 game released 30 years ago. Note the placement of the apostrophes in those titles -- the original game was about a race of space insects, the Yars, fighting against a swarm of their predators, the Qotile. But in the new game, you play the last living Yar, a young female warrior again battling the Qotile hordes that want her dead. For better or worse, the gameplay is a departure from the 2D psuedo-shoot-'em-up style of the original. Now, it's a deliberate clone of the Panzer Dragoon games and Sin & Punishment 2, where you primarily move a reticule and fire weapons as your character flies along a set path.
